Life Cycle Assessment of AM Powder Manufacturing
6K Additive completes first-ever LCA for AM Powder Manufacturing
Foresight Management has just completed the first Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) for AM powder manufacturing in which they did a deep dive into 6K Additive's production process of their titanium and nickel powders to offer visibility into the energy, carbon, and environmental impacts associated with the production of these products. Fill in the form to download the complete report for both.
6K Additive Nickel LCA Results:
It was found that for nickel, 6K’s UniMelt® process used 6,265 MJ of energy and produced 301kg CO2-eq for every 100kg delivered to the customer. This is 91% energy reduction and 92% carbon emissions reduction from traditional processes in the Cradle-to-End User Scope.
- 91% energy reduction
- 92% carbon emissions reduction
6K Additive Titanium LCA Results:
It was found that for titanium, 6K’s UniMelt® process used 56,268 MJ of energy and produced 2,748kg CO2-eq for every 100kg delivered to the customer. This is, at minimum, a 74% energy reduction and 78% carbon emission reduction from traditional processes in the Cradle-to-End User Scope.
